Zombies Game on

As the name suggests this is plant-based action – no zombies, no guns, no blood (maybe some sap though) – and it is just a fun-loving, whimsical adventure where a group of seeds (ya, like plant seeds) fight to save their vegi-home from a mysterious menace, and help loads of neighbours along the way. A point-and-click adventure, it also includes puzzles, but it is mostly about hunting for missing pieces that contribute to solving inter-connected challenges.

The creative direction and design of the game is a winner, aptly portraying the quirky characters and story with an off-beat fairy tale charm and bio-organic textures. The audio design is also a winning element of the game, made largely with mouth effects rather than instruments. Music features highly and it’s really well produced and fun to hear, as are the exclamations and verbalisations produced by the characters themselves.

It’s available only for PC and Mac and you can download it right onto your laptop.

Another game about Zombies!!!

Well we can’t talk enough of the undead it seems. Xboxers can enjoy the right-to-left scroller, Deadlight, on Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 MS points. As (wait for it) post-apocalyptic Seattle Randall Wayne battles ‘Shadows’ (they’re Zombies) on a quest to find his friends and family.

Reminiscent of Limbo, though linear, it has well depicted backdrops that evoke 3 dimensional depth and powerful context in a destroyed world. You jump, run, climb and hack your way across the city with limited health and endurance. You can replenish health with med-kits, and you also have to gauge your fighting, even holding on to ledges so you don’t get exhausted.

Only available on Xbox Live arcade it’s actually kinda fun, but you could live happily without killing yet more Zombies.

Darksiders 2

Look out for the review, but if you don’t have it yet (it was released August 14), shame upon thee!!!!
