‘BIL ARABI’ PAYS HOMAGE TO ORAL TRADITIONS OF ARAB WORLD

Abu Dhabi, UAE: 11 March 2013: ‘Bil Arabi,’ a celebration of the oral traditions of the Arab world, kicked off today at Zayed University on the first leg of a multi-city UAE tour as part of the tenth Abu Dhabi Festival’s Community Programme. Poetry, music and song intertwined with the audience’s laughter and applause as the region’s oral heritage was celebrated.

UAE playwright, director and actor Dr. Habib Ghuloom Al Attar was accompanied by Iraqi musician Khaled Saleh on oud and Syrian vocalist Samar Naser, while Omani visual artist Shaima’a Al Mugheari’s evocative images added an other-worldly aspect to the recitation.
