How did you get started?

I performed at the Sheraton Hotel at Open Mic Night .

Have you performed in public before?

Yes, some school talent shows, open mics and small events.

Have you ever mixed up your music with other genres?

I don’t really know my genre, but my brother, who studies audio engineering in Cape Town, has mixed some of my songs. They include love psy trance music and such.

What are your favourite music genres?

All types! I love Barbra Streisand, The Growlers, Fleetwood Mac, Cat Power, CocoRosie, Devendra Banhart, Elvis and any more!

What do you do besides sing?

I will soon be studying film production in Ireland.

What do you think you need to be successful as a singer?

To be able to make music with great musicians, that’s what I would love!

What do you think about the local music scene?

Though it may be small, it’s much bigger compared to the part that I did not know until recently. It’s more of a community or small group of familiar and friendly faces.

WATCH HER PERFORM HER ORIGINAL SONG, “SWEET TEA” HERE:

Sweet Tea Lyrics

She was born in a teacup,
She was brought up
with nothing but sugar sweet tea,
No one could warm up, her ceramic cold soul,
And inside her sat beating a black piece of coal,

(Oh ghosts, ghosts, ghosts were her friends
and they were hosts, hosts, hosts t’ill the end)

On a swing she swung, and next to her, was an unsung lung

(Oh ghosts, ghosts, ghosts were her friends
and they were hosts, hosts, hosts t’ill the end)

Ghosts they never sleep, they’re never tired,
they don’t talk back, cause they’ve died

(Oh ghosts, ghosts, ghosts were her friends
and they were hosts, hosts, hosts t’ill the end)
