THE INVENTION:
Fashionable camera bags aimed for the female photographer. The camera bags look like ordinary handbags yet function like a camera bag. The interior includes adjustable dividers, in which the female photographer can adjust to put her camera body and lenses. I combined the elements of a handbag and a camera bag in one. Additionally, selective modules come with an iPad case and a memory card wallet as a functional accessory.
MATERIALS USED:
Man-made materials that are water resistant and durable. I have designed adjustable compartments from the interior of the camera bag, using velcro for flexibility of allocating your camera body and lenses.
THE BEGINNING:
I was residing in London, and as a photographer I attended fashion shows regularly. I am very connected to the fashion industry and I never liked the style or look of any camera bag that I used to carry my camera equipment in. I wondered why there weren’t any camera bags that are both fashionable and functional. I started sketching and took it onwards. I am currently living in Dubai, and am very passionate about the Rustom Camera Bag collection.
THE INSPIRATION:
Michael Kors Handbags were a big inspiration and I love the designs of Givenchy. I wanted the Rustom Camera Bags to be safe, secure and practical in addition to being stylish.
WHY IS YOUR PRODUCT A WINNER?
Rustom Camera Bags can be a source of inspiration for female photographers especially. However, I am not leaving the fashionable male photographers behind, as I am aiming to add a male collection shortly.
ADVICE TO INVENTORS:
I believe that you should always go ahead with an idea you really believe in. Motivation and passion is all that matters, even if you are the only one working on it. Support will come sooner or later once others start appreciating the idea. There are so many resources nowadays that can help you, but you must be prepared for a steep learning curve. I have gained knowledge in so many areas including photography, design, marketing and branding, and I am enjoying every moment of it.
