What’s exciting about the last few weeks is the focus on innovation, creativity and enterprise. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been awash in exciting new ventures that will surely shape our calendar in the coming year. Noteworthy in the capital is the opening of the new Warehouse 421 and the Innovator Space in Zeina.
This month is a smorgasbord of events, in a blend of old and new, hip and classic. After Ariana kicks off the month, we see the juxtaposition of the national day traditional rowing competition with the powerboat championship race, as well as a whole lot of stuff happening outside of the capital city. Al Gharbia will host the Al Dhafra Festival while
Al Wathba holds the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival. For visitors who want to a bigger dose of Emirati culture, there’s the newly refurbished Qattara Arts centre in Al Ain. And for those in search of the holiday spirit there’s the community Saturday market on Yas Marina, family caroling at the National Theatre, in addition to a Bond inspired concert in Al Ain by the City of Birmingham orchestra.

We chatted with director Majid Al Ansari who debuts his highly anticipated film Zinzana this month, and with singing star Ludacris who shared the vision behind his youth focused foundation.
