1% for the Planet is 100% for Mother Nature

Saving Our Planet

The need for saving mother nature is not tomorrow’s problem but today’s. Most people think that since they can live through climate change now it would not make much of a difference. This is why only 3% of charity and environmental generosity goes towards overcoming the climate crisis. People need to soon realize that 3% of total funding can hardly create a dent in the change. Imagine if the world would just chip in with just 1% funding, then the entire collection would motivate and lead to new innovations for companies to create environment-friendly products and much more. With a minor fund allocation covering elements like climate crisis, social inequities, toxic pollution, natural disasters, etc. Think of two things the future of our children and the planet we live on.

How Did The Journey Begin?

This pondered on two businessmen’s minds and when they met and related, they realized they had the same love for nature and the outdoors. Taking ownership and accountability to protect our mother earth, they settled to give 1% of their income to the environment irrespective of their profits. In the year 2002, nature lover Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and a true outdoor fan Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, formed 1% for the Planet and triggered a global crusade. The idea spread globally like wildfire. The concept was simple since companies benefit with large profits using the resources of the earth it would make complete sense to protect those resources by contributing 1% back to the earth.

United We Stand

Major brands like Klean Kanteen, Honest Tea, Bushrifire Records, Caudalie, and several more joined the movement. 1% of the planet is diverse and has global reach thereby proving that anybody can make a difference if you start the initiative. People can give back to the earth as a company or as an individual either by donating or volunteering with domestic environmental non-profits. The cause can be anything related to the environment just like singer and renowned songwriter Jack Johnson who joined 1% of the planet in 2004 to protect the shoreline of his Hawaii home. Since our initial foundation, we now have more than 5000+ active members and have certified and allocated more than 250 million dollars to support our cause which will benefit and stabilize the future for us and our planet. The foundation also plans more for the future with expansion to their fund distribution in new ideas that help improve our planet.
