The Dubai Mall Summer Camp
A highlight this summer is the five-day The Dubai Mall Summer Camp 2011. It will take the
kids on a journey to KidZania® on day one; they can watch a movie at Reel Cinemas and go
ice skating at Dubai Ice Rink on day two; experience the marvels of the aquatic world at Dubai
Aquarium & Underwater Zoo and tour At the Top, Burj Khalifa on day three; enjoy thrilling
games and exciting rides at SEGA Republic on day four; and complete the programme with
another day of fun-filled activities at KidZania® on day five.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo offers the Aquarist Programme
The Aquarist Programme promises ‘big adventures for little ones’. Children are offered the
opportunity to gain a fascinating glimpse of the behind-the-scenes action as an Aquarist, and
discover the marvels of the marine world. The Aquarist Programme comes in two fun-packed
experiences:
As Junior Aquarist, open for children aged 5 to 7 years old, the little ones will be provided a
Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. They can meet a professional
Aquarist, watch a shark feeding session, assist in feeding the aquatic animals and ride on a
glass bottom boat.
The Senior Aquarist experience is for children aged 8 years and above. It includes a cage
snorkeling experience for closer encounters with over 33,000 aquatic animals in the aquarium,
and all activities in the Junior Aquarist Programme.

Dubai Ice Rink – Summer On Ice
At the Olympic-size Dubai Ice Rink, the Summer on Ice programmes will be held again this
year. People can enroll for a four-day Learn-to-Skate Programme for AED 750 and enjoy
a month of skating for free. An Intensive Ice Skating Camp is also being offered where
participants can master the ice with five levels of ice skating for AED 500 per level. Enrol for all
levels at AED 1,750 and save AED 750.

Price: Learn to skate in a four-day programme and skate free for a month with the Cool
Intensive Skate Camp. The five level of ice skating is AED 500 per level. However, visitors can

KidZania®
KidZania®, the first of its kind edutainment centre in the region, offering professional role-play
experiences for visitors, has four unique workshops this summer that showcase children’s talent
in various professions. These 5-day themed workshops culminate with a performance day open
for parents on Day 5. All the themed workshops enhance the concept of education through fun
and creativity.
The KidZania® summer camp will be suitable for children aged 6 to 14 years.

At the Arts & Crafts Workshop, the little ones can gain hands-on experience while putting
their creative skills to use by creating puppet show characters, designing backdrops for the
puppet shows, making clay sculptures and other fun colourful activities. Parents can watch their
children’s activities and final show at the TV studio on the last day of this workshop.
The Arabian Heritage Workshop covers a warm up to Arabian heritage with interesting
activities such as henna designing, the art of perfume making, creating personalized beats
in Arabic drumming, decorating and painting Abayas and Kanduras. Parents can watch the
documentary of all the workshop activities on the last day of this workshop at the TV Studio.
At the Acting Workshop, children can learn everything about production of a theater play,
from making costumes and props to performing on stage. This year’s production is “Alice
in KidZanialand”. Parents are invited on the last day of this workshop to view the final
performance.
The Media Production Workshop allows children to dive into the world of media production by
gaining a deeper understanding of news reporting, radio show hosting, TV show production and
professional photography. Parents can watch their children perform live in the TV Studio on the
last day of this workshop
SKI DUBAI SUMMER CAMPS
Ski Dubai, the region’s premier indoor skiing destination is all set to welcome skiing and snowboarding
enthusiasts to its alpine slopes with its special 5 day summer camps.
As an additional bonus, all participants to the Ski Dubai Summer camps will also receive a complimentary
Magic Planet access pass and the chance to enjoy the games and activities at the popular entertainment
venue.

SMURF VILLAGE

The world’s first first Smurf Village, a mini-world dedicated to the small blue fictional creatures created
by Belgian cartoonist, Pierre ‘Peyo’ Culliford, is a keynote attraction at this year’s ‘Summer in Abu Dhabi’
line-up at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Divided into 12 separate districts, Smurf Village features specially-created activities areas for children,
including ‘Papa Smurf’s Story Corner’, ‘Smurfette’s Land of Beauty’, ‘Smurf Fun Park’, and ‘The
Promenade’ – a tricycle track through the entire 42m-by-24m enclosure in Hall 11.
In Smurf Village kids can meet and play with the Smurfs in the ‘mushroom houses’ and watch back-to-
back episodes of the ever-popular Smurfs’ TV show screened in ‘The Reel Mushroom’. The characters’
international appeal will be further boosted when ‘The Smurfs’ movie is released in cinemas on July 29.
SUMMER IN ABU DHABI FOR KIDS

Summer- All About Arts and Culture

The Dubai Public Library, under the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), has launched an
initiative featuring fun and educational summer activities for children and adults.
The summer activities cover arts and crafts, etiquette lessons, Arabic script lessons on three types of
calligraphy (Al Naseh, Al Diwani, and Al Riqqah), Holy Quran lessons, stamp exhibitions, and workshops
on first aid, gardening, fine arts, embroidery and origami.
The activities will be held over four weeks across the public libraries in Dubai including Al Twar Public
Library, Hor Al Anz Public Library, Al Rashidya Public Library, Al Safa Public Library, Umm Suqueim
Electronic Library, and Hatta Public Library, with sessions for young children, youth and adults.
Summer Activities schedule:
First week, June 26 – 30: (6yrs- 12yrs)
Holy Quran, calligraphy and story writing. The Al Safa Public Library and the Hatta Public Library will
host a research writing session, stamp exhibition, workshop on perfume bottle designing, and radio
competition.
Second week, July 3 – 7
Agriculture workshops, calligraphy, fine arts exhibition, embroidery workshops, hat painting, and lectures
on education.
Third week, July 7 – 14
Design-your-own bracelet and jewelry box designing workshops, exhibitions on young talent, stamps, and
dangers of drugs, and lectures on education.
Final week, July 17 – 21
Health and road safety sessions, knitting, and pottery design workshops, as well as lectures on society
and community.

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club
The summer holidays are coming up and to keep the kids busy, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is offering juniors an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, get some fresh air and have a chance to pick up golf or improve their game. A series of Junior Golf Camps for children aged 4 -15 years old will take part in the Gold Club during the summer. From 8.30am to 10.30am Sunday to Wednesday, juniors will undertake various activities with the club’s PGA Professionals. They will be divided by age and groups which are limited to 6 per instructor. Only juniors completing all four morning sessions will receive the Certificate, Shirt and Cap awards.
Junior Golf Camp costs Dh 595 per week per participant which includes refreshments and snacks each morning. There are also individual morning sessions at AED 175 per junior per session, subject to availability.
