Abu Dhabi Awards Volunteers at Malls in Abu Dhabi

A team of Emirati volunteers is visiting shopping malls in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to encourage nominations for the 2017 edition of the Abu Dhabi Awards, and to familiarise the public with the Awards.

The volunteers, all UAE Nationals of various ages, were inspired by the initiative and chose to support it by using their free time to join the promotions through direct engagement with the public.

The team visited a number of malls across the Emirate, including Mushrif Mall, Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi Mall and Yas Mall planned for the remainder of the nomination period until June 3rd.  This is in addition to visits conducted by Abu Dhabi Awards to universities in the Emirate.

Rahma Hasan, an Emirati volunteer based at Yas Mall said: “I believe that Abu Dhabi Awards encourage people to do good deeds and become role models to others in society. I volunteered to take part in this initiative so that I could speak to different nationalities and age groups, while encouraging people to take part in the nomination process to ultimately recognise good deeds and to celebrate the unsung heroes in the society.”

She added: “The Awards are the perfect platform to reward those who have a positive impact on Abu Dhabi, especially those contributions that reflect the vision and values of our late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”

Asmaa Al Zaabi, an Emirati volunteer based at Abu Dhabi Mall said: “The Abu Dhabi Awards symbolise and recognise the importance of good deeds, which reinforce positive human values. I would like to encourage the public to take part in the Abu Dhabi Awards nomination process today, as the act of recognising good is a good deed itself.”

Abu Dhabi Awards are a Government initiative established in 2005 to honour individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to helping others and contributed to the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. As the Emirate’s highest civilian honour that can be given to anyone who has made a positive impact on Abu Dhabi, the Awards celebrate goodness and strive to inspire a community of good deeds.

The nomination period for this edition runs until 3 June 2017, and the public can nominate through:
