Abu Dhabi Dames: A Poem

ABU DHABI DAMES

You see us here, you see us there

In cars so big, it must make you stare,

Provided by our husbands dear,

His way of showing he does care.

Municipal transport some must ride,

Or walk with umbrella, held up high,

For every dirham they earn, they save,

To help their parent, their child to raise.

The first nor the second, some are not,

But independent ladies they surely are.

Having worked all their lives in companies of old,

With grown-up children, now living on their own.

Off to the mall, weekly some may go,

With heels clicking on marble tiles below,

A branded bag in hand, swings to and fro,

To check out the latest trends on show.

Or you see some sitting on a bench,

Writing messages, getting things off their chest,

To north, south, east or west.
Crying, laughing, or gleefully Facebooking.

Telephonic messages, non-stop chattering,

They all agree that Abu Dhabi is the best.
