Abu Dhabi, 28 March 2013: Opera star Bryn Terfel shared the stage with the next generation of choral greats last night. The man known as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of Wagner performed with the choirs of Brighton College Abu Dhabi and the Emirati a capella quartet SAMA for an inspirational evening of song that was received with thunderous applause from an enthralled Abu Dhabi audience.
The night of song was conducted by musical director Tim Rhys Evans, founder of the Welsh choirs Only Men Aloud! and Only Boys Aloud!, who has been instrumental in reviving the male choir tradition. Only Men Aloud! performed during the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony, and has released three chart-topping albums with Universal as part of a five-record deal.
