Happy birthday UAE! It’s exciting to see the national fervour and the vibrant colours of the flag come alive.
With the whirlwind craziness of last month over, December brings a welcome respite that is kicked off by the break of the UAE’s National Day celebrations. There’s still a lot happening in December, but certainly at a happier pace with the holidays around the corner.
In this issue of Tempo we bring you big ideas, cool design, and ambitious projects. The cover story in this issue of Tempo is the Women’s Heritage Walk, an initiative that I have personally embraced. The walk from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi will be held in February next year, with the two fold purpose of celebrating the old tradition of the UAE’s annual migration, and the promotion of women’s empowerment and physical achievement.
Within this issue you will meet the super talented Charlie Cunningham whose humorous play Shoes is testament to the talent we have within our community and you’ll learn about the vision of the Fatima Bint Hazza Foundation, which seeks to enlighten and empower young people. We share with you also the heart breaking account of a daughter’s experience with alzheimer’s, and the powerful stories of artists, designers and social workers.
