Entering 3D Zone

Younis Elias Alsulaimi is a 31 year old Emirati who has set up his own company, ABAAD to step into the exciting world of 3D printing. He talks to Tempo about the challenges and opportunities associated with being a pioneer in business.

What makes ABAAD unique?

It is essentially the first and only company in the UAE  engaged in offering 3D solutions.  All the services offered by ABAAD are 3D centric. At ABAAD we offer 3D scanning, 3D modeling and 3D printing services individually and also as part of a package called 3D Solutions.

What made you start this company?

The idea came to us because 3D graphics is the latest in the field of technology of 3D scanners, 3D software, 3D printers and other such equipment. The ABAAD team is highly educated, experienced and very passionate about working with 3D. When you think about it, it is human nature to visualize every object in 3D, whether it is for education or entertainment or business.

What are the challenges you’ve faced?

The first challenge was to muster the courage to start something like 3D solutions which is at its infancy stage in the UAE market, and especially as the vast majority of people are not aware of the technology we offer. Hence we have to work hard to educate potential customers.  Once we decided to start ABAAD, there were no real obstacles in establishing the company; the UAE government has been very supportive as ABAAD is an Emirati company and we are thankful to our government for the support they’ve given us.

What do you hope to achieve?

We want to reach and serve maximum number of end users of 3D solutions with the latest available technology. Our aim is to expand the range of services offered by ABAAD, taking the opportunity to add to our portfolio new technologies and equipment as they become available.

Final thoughts?

I strongly believe that success comes to those who accept that there will inevitably be challenges, and accept risks as part of doing business. We have faced difficulties and have taken calculated risks, and I believe that the real solution is to work hard. Hopefully, we will be successful.
