Handy Helper

Especially because it is an important safety measure (incase you don’t have a man lying around in your car’s trunk). Also, asking for help from strangers can be risky.

Do it in Steps:
·As soon as you experience a flat tyre, slow down and stop the car off the road to avoid traffic jam. Also, turn on the emergency lights. Always carry a spare wheel with you for emergencies along with a car jack and a lug tool.
·With the help of the lug tool, loosen the nuts on the tyre. Once the tyre is loose, use the jack to raise the front or rear end of the car, high enough to remove the tyre. Make sure you know the position of the jack under the car (they are mentioned in the owner’s manual – the bulky book you threw aside when you bought the car)
·After removing the flat tyre, place the spare tyre with the air valve facing you to assure the right side. Replace the lug nuts and tighten them with the lug tool. Make sure they are tightened securely.
·Now lower the jack slowly bringing the car on ground. Place the tools and the flat tyre in the trunk. Get the flat tyre mended as soon as possible for future use in case of a similar incident.

Tempo Tip!
A major cause of tyre puncture is the improper air in the tyres. Make sure you check the air pressures in all the tyres before going for a drive.
