Is it just another day? Or is it an opportunity to excel? Maybe it’s the time of the year to meet the objectives that you didn’t reach last year. Look at this way, the new year is a new chapter…in fact, every day is a new chapter. But the New Year can bring in the start of a new “book”.
Quick confession: my resolution last year was to join the gym. Obviously that didn’t happen. I’m a good example of one of those Instagram memes that make fun of people who say, “I promise myself to join the gym tomorrow!”. In my defence, my cardio is done in the DJ booth standing up for hours every day. I have, however, achieved other personal goals that I am pretty happy with. If you have been reading my past Tempo articles and following me on social media, the journey that I share with you is evidence that you may not stick to the resolution you made on January 1 but may end up waking up every day and setting a new goal – and actually accomplishing it! This is what the New Year should be about.
Turn your dreams into fun challenges that help you set goals for yourself as well as your career. My idea is to treat everyday as it comes and set a goal for the day. Goals can be big and small, sometimes my goal is to go to Nando’s (my favourite restaurant) and finish a whole chicken! Burp 😉
Let’s not get too sentimental about the passing of another year. Let’s rather look for a good laugh and remember the most important thing: being happy within yourself. Finding inner peace and making yourself happy is the biggest goal one must have.
I am thrilled to see some of my work starting to create an impact. I should take a moment to thank all of my readers, listeners and supporters because without you I would not have been able to get that certain motivation to keep going. There has been a lot of stress this past year, but I have found that my strength is myself and I belief that for every down there is an up. Know that nothing comes easy; your attitude and the way you handle things with patience and trust will help you overcome anything.
Let’s laugh, celebrate and begin a new journey in 2017, with more motivation and more positive thoughts.
