Revenge Wears Prada

It’s been ten years since we’ve last seen Andy Sachs break away from the holds of the domineering dragon lady Miranda Priesley in Paris, something that no assistant in Runway history has ever done.

Now, Andy is running her own wedding magazine with the help of Emily—yes, the same Emily from the Runway days. Since the end of her days at the fashion magazine, Andy has managed to steadily build an empire in which she flourished with her best friend on her side and the promise of a future with the most wanted bachelor in up-scale New York society, Max Harrison.

But when Andy finds a threatening letter on her wedding day, she finds her past colliding with her present. Miranda Priesley—still as vicious as she’d been ten years ago—slithers her way back into her life and shatters all illusion of happiness and calmness.

In the same time, Andy begins to doubt her love to Max and keeps thinking back to Alex, who had left her ten years back and moved to another state, and to another life.

Revenge Wears Prada is a true step-up for Weisberger, whose prose has become sharper and more mature with a hint of ironic tone. It is a fun read for all women out there who fell in love with Andy Sachs and the loathsome Miranda Priesley.

However, a fair warning must be presented. Fans of the movie will not completely understand the references in the sequel of The Devil Wears Prada because many key plotlines had been transformed to suit Hollywood’s standards and its iconic happily-ever-after end. In that sense, readers must be cautious to read the previous before delving into this one.
