Universal Music MENA has announced the big news of their new talent signing via their Instagram page on the 17th of May 2017. Sarah El Gohary is an Egyptian singer-songwriter who was born and raised in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Since signing with the label, she has officially released her brand-new single “HIGH هاي” along with its music video.
“HIGH هاي” was written by Gohary and produced by renowned Pakistani record producer Talal Qureshi. The music video was directed by distinguished filmmaker Ahmad Samara. The music video featured people from different cultures and ethnicities to highlight the concept of oneness that is found in the language of music and dance. Different locations were also beautifully featured in the music video where Gohary freely dances to the music.
A premiere night for the music video was hosted in the BrandMoxie office in TwoFour54 last Wednesday (July 12). Close friends and family of the singer attended the launch party to show their support for the rising Egyptian artist. Gohary sang a few of her older songs and even gave a heartfelt speech about the inspiration and process of creating each one of them. She also discussed some details regarding the production of her new music video and what it means to her, which were underlined by some of her hashtags: #DreamsDoComeTrue, #MusicUnites, and #IAmGohary. UAE based DJ Raveland was also present to liven up the mood of the party by playing his own set throughout the night. Some exclusive photos from the launch party are on the Feel Your Tempo Facebook page
“It’s refreshing to listen to Gohary’s music, and the market is hungry for unique sounds and yet with rich cultural diversity. We are dedicated to pave the way and provide opportunities to local talents, and Gohary certainly has an interesting mix of Arabic, electronic and African tunes. We are excited to have Sarah joining our roster” – Patrick Boulos, CEO of Universal Music MENA.
Gohary, also deemed as “Happy Voice” by her fans, is a fresh take on alternative indie pop scene and keeps her Egyptian roots as the foundation of her music. In a market that craves for a unique yet relatable vibe, Gohary’s music and image will be loved by everyone; even those who are not of Arab descent. Her carefree style and self-love will inspire many to also follow their dreams despite the judgements that they might face. From being an underground singer to now signing with a big record label, Gohary has proven that dreams do not only remain as dreams if you work hard enough to fulfill and follow them.
