Telltale Games, makers of the Walking Dead game series, are back with a new mystery fantasy called The Wolf Among Us.
They’ve referred to it as ‘season 1’ which suggests they’ve invested a lot in developing the story line, and hence, in the short and long term effect of your choices.
The Story!
Set in Fableland – a section of New York magically cordoned off from the ‘real’ world – this small universe is populated by fairytale characters banished from their homeland (wherever that is).
Non-human residents (like trolls and toads) must purchase enchantments to maintain a human guise, while the community is policed by none other than a reformed Big Bad Wolf.
Despite the fairy tale basis, this is no children’s story. It’s a proper murder mystery with a very dark side that has you playing the Wolf is the sheriff. Characters start turning up dead and there’s a long list of suspects as everyone has a dubious past – including the wolf himself who has frequent memory lapses.
You have choices to make that affect character responses and your reputation, among other things. One gets the feeling that seemingly insignificant choices made now will have major consequences later.
The graphic style is exactly like the Walking Dead, as is the gameplay. We have a potential hit on our hands folks. Pick up the first season now for about USD 5 across gaming platforms.
