400 Days of Awww Yeaaaaa! (Spoiler Alert)
The Walking Dead DLC 400 Days features five separate, but somewhat overlapping, stories that all take place within the first 400 days of the zombie virus outbreak. There’s a woman and her younger sister, another woman who is also a recovering drug addict, a young college aged kid, an ex-con (guy) and a hipster dude.
You play each character in a mini games of about 10 minutes long and then play a sixth character that interacts with all of them. The ending of the game, while not a massive cliff hanger, is still cleverly done and forces you – happily – to play until you get it right. Get what right, you ask? I’ll get to that.
As you know, TWD is heavily based on your choices – this DLC is no different and leans heavy on the morality of your choices. In just about all the games you are really conflicted about which decision to make – both in terms of the ethics and in terms of your gaming strategy. All the while, you kind of get the impression that your choices will come back to haunt you once season 2 rolls around.
That said, by the end of the game a sixth character – Tavi – turns up to offer everyone (all five characters have ended up surviving together) the chance to join a growing commune (who, where, what, when we don’t know). It’s obvious that the choices you make in the games and the choices you make as Tavi -affect who chooses to join the commune. You can get everyone to join if you play it right. And I think I have that pretty well figured out. Drop me a line on the blog if you want to know.
What does 400 days say about Season 2?
This is a good question. It looks like Clem may not even appear in Season 2 – and that wouldn’t be cool. I say that only because of this brand new cast of characters. Why introduce so many new characters if not to start a brand new story? Either that or they just become minor characters in (hopefully) Clem’s story.
Of course you are left to wonder which commune you’re heading to – is it the infamous Governor’s town? Will we see more characters from the TV show and comic book? I say we will see more TV characters, and I predict that gamers will be able to make choices about what happens to minor characters based gaming stats. Remember you heard it hear first.
Get it. It’s available for PS, XBox and PC.
