Shaping minds of young musicians

Yana Welch sees tremendous potential in each child, and champions the importance of music in unleashing creative energy. She identifies musical talent and nurtures a group of budding young pianists. Here is Yana Welch in her words….

I am an experienced pianist skilled both as a soloist as well as an accompanist. I have a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree at the Tashkent State Conservatoire in Uzbekistan and a Post-graduate Diploma in Chamber Music. I have taught music at many schools and am currently schools as a teacher and as an accompanist. I am currently establishing The Music Hub in Abu Dhabi.

“My gift for teaching children was honed while working with the Tashkent Conservatoire in Uzbekistan.  During this time I was able to explore different aspects of music making by participating in chamber music groups, taking the role of concert master for the string department and as a pianist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan and the Orchestra of Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet.  Following on from this I taught piano to students of all grades at the Musica Nova Anglo-Russian Music Academy in London.  While in London I played at numerous chamber music recitals for music festivals, including the Richmond Upon Thames Performing Arts.

“The Music Hub’s main aim is to provide the best quality tuition in music for children and adults in the UAE. Our mission is to inspire a life-long love of music through fun, life-enhancing and confidence-building experiences through our distinguished faculty who are experienced music educators and performers. We offer fun music learning opportunities for all ages from infants to adults whether beginner, intermediate or advanced.

“Our individual and group lessons are in piano, cello, violin, flute and guitar including instruments from the woodwind and brass family. In addition to the instrumental lessons we also offer theory and composition.

There is no such thing such as ‘normal’ day at the Hub. There is always something new each day. We have our very early beginners to our little beginners who are progressing very well. The intermediate and advanced students are rehearsing for exams and preparing for competitions by building their performance skills. The students play the piano, violin, flute, drums, guitar and the trumpet at the moment. We also have our kids’ choir and we have vocal students belting out tunes four times a week. Like I said, ‘never a dull moment’.

“My inspiration have always been my teachers from the school as well as from the Conservatoire. I have been very lucky to have fabulous teachers who inspired me to take up teaching. They successfully managed very busy lives as professional performers and fully booked teachers”.
