Fans of the Star Wars movie franchise are over the moon (or should I say Jedha?) by the release of the behind the scenes video for the eighth episode, The Last Jedi. The official video was posted in the Star Wars YouTube channel on July 15 and already has over 4 million views as of today. After the success of the last two films of the franchise, Episode VII – The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans are ecstatic yet skeptical about the upcoming episode thinking, “How it can possibly even live up to the reputation of the previous ones?”
The behind the scenes video included soundbites from the actors who play the intergalactic peace makers in the film. Daisy Ridley who plays the role of the female protagonist Rey said, “Rian (director) has written a story that’s unexpected but right.” She then goes on to say how even though the film is part of a trilogy, it is in itself unique and the audience can expect to be surprised by the twists and new elements in the story.
The video goes on to show different characters of the movie, both old and new. They also showed footage of a few creatures of various kinds and some stunt training that the actors had to go through.
Although excitement is primarily felt, fans can’t help but express their grief and longing for their beloved Princess Leia. Carrie Fisher, who played the role of the rebel royalty, passed away last year and has truly left a void in the hearts of the fans. Seeing a few clips of her in the behind the scenes video made a lot of emotions stir, to say the least.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the second movie from the sequel trilogy. The Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in the epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. The film is set to open in cinemas across the Middle East from December 14.
