Light painting is a photographic technique where a camera records moving light. It is also called “drawing with light”. To do this you need a dark place. You also need a camera remote to reduce movement while you press the shutter button. You need long exposures to record light movements, a technique that can be achieved through the maximum exposure time available within your camera or by using the BULB mode.
Here are some photographs I took using a Canon EOS 50D, an 18-55mm lens, 8.0 F-stop and 100 ISO. I experimented with various shutter speeds.
