1. Sarath, tell me more about yourself and how you got into photography?
When I was young, my uncle introduced me to the world of photography and my inspiration grew ever since. I spent all my free time learning the basics of photography and soon realized I was good at it! This is what fueled my passion in photography. I think university in India and the internet played an important role in polishing my photography skills.
2. Working in Abu Dhabi can often take up most of your time. What keeps you inspired?
I won’t deny that work life considerably reduced the time I spend with my camera, but that doesn’t stop me from looking for opportunities. Street photography happens to be my favourite kind so I never fall short of subjects to click. I like to capture a moment as it is, which requires an advanced skill set to match one’s level of spontaneity. Photography to me is bridging a gap between what I see with my eyes and the resulting end picture.
3. If you had a choice between photography and engineering as career options, which would you choose and why?
That’s a tough question. I guess I wouldn’t want to change a thing. I chose engineering for the stability it gives me in my professional life. Photography will always be my passion which I intend to take up on a professional level as well. Someday I want to own a Canon 5D Mark II, but for now I will continue improving.
