This February, the third session of “World Stage” festival will commence with the performance of Akram Khan jointly produced with ADACH, one of the most famous choreographers in the world, who will be presenting his latest work, “Vertical Road”, in contemporary dance.
It represents a step in his ambition to discover the links between cultures and creative fields of knowledge. Khan brings together performers and artists from East and West, blending his classical Indian roots with dance in its contemporary form. Performances of “Vertical Road” include theatres in Britain, France, Spain and Canada.
The show will also include the “Kathakbox” dance by Sonia Sabri, a remarkable dancer and choreographer based in Britain. Her diverse works present the “Kathak” dance, which originated in the north of India.
Meanwhile in March, Abu Dhabi’s audience will watch several performances by ‘Theater Mitu’ in a co-production with the New York University and Abu Dhabi Institute, and which is conceived and directed by Rubén Polendo. The play, entitled “Chaos”, is based on the adaptation of short stories by Italy’s Pulitzer Prize winner Luigi Pirandello. “Cimarron”, the most accomplished Lineara group in Colombia, are masters of the festive dance music of “Joropo”. Also on show is William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, by the National Theatre in Britain.
