Sturiale Arts

The exhibition was hosted at Photon Gallery in collaboration with Sturiale Contemporary Arts and lasted for two weeks. Mr Paolo Sturiale, director of Sturiale Contemporary Arts from Italy has started a big exhibition calendar that feature some of the greatest contemporary Emirati artists and the first of these long awaited appointments were in Ljubljana. The whole concept behind this cycle of Emirati exhibitions is to promote Emirati artists in Europe and introducing the Arab culture and tradition to European artists and the visiting public.

Manal Bin Amro’s themes are very pleasant and they arouse the desire to look at her photographs repeatedly, with every look new details, new particularities constructing the whole story become visible.  She’s very spontaneous and her work emphasizes the interplay between people and what’s around us in everyday life. Reality, or rather the visibility of these photographs, is a consequence of an artistic technique  of representation, providing the viewer with form and figure for contemplation. We become part of the process that discloses the dynamics of creating visibility, of moving towards and away from the sphere of the possible, and of approaching the moment and a space in which everything is suspended.

She forges a whole new set of connections between form and content. These connections – the result of an artist’s effort to confine images within defined spatial frames – are indicative of intimate correlations between particular elements that Manal Bin Amro masters in her photography.
