Bioshock DLC

The Background

Bioshock Infinite has found a place in gaming history (recent history that is) and is considered one of the best games this year. Of all time? Well only time has that answer.

But if you’re a fan of the franchise you have an upcoming Downloadable Content (DLC) to look forward to! If you’ve completed Infinite (and you really should have by now) then you know about the time bending connection between Rapture, the undersea city in the first two installments, and Columbia, the airborne city of Infinite.

For the noobs, we discover that the main characters in both cities are essentially the same character in a different place and time. Name and dates may change, but the people remain the same. It was a huge and brilliant twist that took us all by surprise.

The DLC story

This story, called Burial At Sea, takes place in the city of Rapture 2 years before its eventual ruination (I love that word). With two episodes, you play as Booker DeWitt in the first and his daughter Elizabeth in the second. The details of the story are still unknown, but my astute brilliance tells me we’ll get some more holes filled regarding the connection between the Columbia universe and the one in Rapture.

As dimensional travel is now a central element in story, we’ll no doubt experience characters ‘meeting themselves’ and potential time/space paradoxes (whatever those are).

While some folks are disappointed that we’re going back to Rapture, I’m stoked that we’re going to see the city in its full glory – shiny, new and going crazy.

DeWitt and Elizabeth’s characters have been redesigned slightly for this DLC. Elizabeth looks older and more voluptuous for some reason, and at the time of writing, we didn’t have an update on DeWitt’s makeover. Based on the released art, one gets the impression that these are very different versions of the Infinite characters.

The release is to be announced. It’ll cost about U$ 30 for both episodes.
