  1. Describe a typical day in your life, in 2-3 sentences.

My day mostly revolves around working, sleeping, eating and having fun. Not necessarily in that order.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Healthy, happy, and successful. Generally, I’d be happy with ‘alive’ considering that the world has turned into such a war zone.

  1. What is your idea of peace?

Education for every man, woman and child.

  1. Your goal in life?

Come out the other end smiling. I want my grave stone to read “She lived” but it’ll most probably say,”Did you find my wallet?”

  1. What item do you keep buying even though you have plenty?

Shoes!!! You can never have enough. I love the freedom of going from oompa loompa to Nicole Kidman and back in seconds.

  1. What random act of kindness have you performed so far in 2010?

Volunteered for local projects and international ones. Sindh Flood Relief project for Pakistan is always going to be close to my heart. (picture link) http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages&ref=mb#!/photo.php?pid=7036757&fbid=477062186112&op=1&o=global&view=global&subj=1041627056&id=88672931112

13.  What are 3 things that today has taught you that you can improve on tomorrow?

Work smart (I didn’t say hard).

Plan ahead: Life gives you a few surprises now and then. Return the favour by planning to hit a few curve balls of your own.

Don’t regret the decisions you take today. There’ll be plenty of time for that when you’r old 😛

  1. Who in your life deserves a big old thank you?

Mom for putting up with a sometimes moody and demanding child like me (other than that I am a nice person..really!!) Love you Ma, it is because I love you that I drive you crazy. Twisted, I know. (picture)

15.  Have you found your purpose yet?

Getting there. My only hurdle is to choose between a technical field and a creative one and till that happens; I am keeping my fingers crossed! Gotta admit though, I feel I was born to do both!

16.  What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

Not sure if this is crazy enough but I am sure some educators will say so!

Back in school days, we had free time on our hands. So along with a couple of friends, I snuk into the teacher’s lounge and emptied tea bags into their mineral water coleman. I promise I did it only once, that too… in a fit of madness. My tea-bag-dunking days are behind me. I have switched to coffee in the guilt L No one caught us though, but the investigation the day after felt like we were being hunted down by the Spanish inquisition! Had we been caught …(shudder).

17.  What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

Brown Curtains and Mom. I remember it was in our old house in Abu Dhabi. The curtains were drawn and light was filtering through them while mom was watching over me. Mom says it must have been my nursey room.

18.  If your life was a book, what would it be called?

My life will most probably be a travel guide.. with a twist. Instead of telling you where to go in places like Pakistan and UAE, it’ll list all the things that’ll happen to you before you reach your destination. These days interesting things happen while you are on the road. As for a title, “A traveller’s guide to nowhere in particular”

  1. If given a chance to change your name… Would you? If so, What would it be?

Okay, this might creep you out. Remember the evil girl from The Ring movies? I really liked her name, Samara. Not Simra or Samra but S-A-M-A-R-A.

  1.  Are you a Facebook/ Twitter/ Tumblr etc addict? If so, How many people on your friends list do you know in real life? And whom don’t you want on your friends list?

BIG FB and twitter fan! Know almost everyone on my FB list. The ones I don’t know, I meet while I am volunteering or hanging out with common friends, so it’s all good. As for twitter, I have people from Texas to Sydney on my list, so I must confess don’t know them all!

On social media networks, I detest the do-you-want-to-frandship-with-me sort! It’s like they don’t have anything better to do with their time. And the least they can do is learn how to spell.

MUSIC

  1. How can the right music make a party better? What music do you usually put on to get the party started?

Pop, hip/hop, rock…I love old school rock! Ofcourse for me old school is like Aerosmith, Rolling stones, and LinkinPark. Please get me passes to F1!!!!

  1. List the albums/ songs that you would want to play on your funeral.

Anything by Goo Goo Dolls. Especially, Iris or Better Days. And if they forget the CD then they can have a dance party instead. I don’t want people to be too upset about death. It’s a part of life, it happens.Besides, you know what people never forget? Dance parties!

23.  How many songs have you heard with your name in?

None! But then again, Kulsoom doesn’t have a rhyme to it. It has a ring but no rhyme L

Barbq with family and friends at Jabel Hafeet and if no one is free to travel to Al Ain then a ‘spa-day Friday’ always cheers me up!(picture, I’ve taken it)

  1. Your wishlist of countries to visit.

Rome, Paris, US, Egypt, and India, where all of our world’s precious art and history resides. I’d begin with a head-to-toenail tour of my own country first, Pakistan.

29.  If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

Rome, weeping my eyes dry in front of one michaelangelo’s sculptures. He was pure gunius; unfiltered, unadultrated and personified! Master of his craft.

  1. If you suddenly found yourself with a free ticket to the moon (and back of course), would to take the trip? What are the reasons for your answer? Who would you take with you?

Hell ya! (Can I use that word? ehem ehem). I hate lying, so I’ll take the trip for nothing else but to finally sing, I’ve Got the Whole World in My Hands truthfully from the spaceship – while craddling the front-end view of Earth. I’d take dad. I know he’d like to witness something this fantastic upclose.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

It would most probably be Coke Cola. Fizzy, fattening but oh so irresistible!

For visually impaired people to find their way around the key pad.

Because if it was round, the boxers would keep going in circles and the fight would never end 😛
